Meal prep is a great way to eat healthy, check out this video to find out why

Breakfast is important, and not really complicated. I have steel cut oatmeal almost every day. Steel cut oats are healthy because they have a high glycemic index and are a whole grain, and our bodies are wired to process whole foods.

Only problem is it takes 30 minutes to prepare, and many of us just don’t have that kind of time in the morning. I can shrink that time by 90 percent by preparing it in a big batch ahead of time.

Here’s what you’ll need:

1. Steel Cut Oats
2. Coconut Oil – though a saturated fat, it contains zero cholesterol and actually helps you burn fat faster.
3. Splenda or Sucralose – zero calorie sweetener
4. Water
5. A large mixing bowl, ladel and a dutch oven or other big pot.
6. 12 containers.

And the most important ingredient: LOVE!

1. Put 3 cups of oats in the mixing bowl.
2. Put 12 cups of water in the pot.
3. Bring the water to a boil.
4. Add the oats all at once and stir until it boils again.
5. Move to low heat, set timer for 30 minutes.
6. Lay out 12 containers, add sucralose and coconut oil.
7. Ladel out oats evenly in the containers, and stir. Cover and freeze.

To prepare, put a container in the refrigerator the night before. In the morning, microwave for 2 minutes.

With all the love you put in, this healthy breakfast will help you love your life enough to make it last as long as possible.
