Today I join my best friend and new dad Robert for my first visit to Lake Weddington. This is a not a state park, but is a “recreational area” which I believe is federally designated, because recreation.gov says it is part of the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests.

Recreation.gov claims to be a gateway to new adventures. So do NOT go there unless you are game for new adventures!
Lake Weddington is beautiful and on this day the water was so clear it looked like a big mirror. We got some nice up-close videos of butterflies, a favorite of Robert and his 95-year-old grandfather.

Unfortunately I was dressed more for a walking trail than a hiking trail. This was especially bad when we went over the earthen dam which was covered with high weeds. As a result I was itching for weeks afterward. But it was worth it, and I look forward to returning.

If you’re listening to the audio, you should definitely check out the video to see more of the beauty of Northwest Arkansas.
