The entire package comes in a black drawstring bag with the Mandrill Workout logo screenprinted on it, including their monkey face mascot. A card came inside welcoming me to Mandrill Workout and professing that “Bobo” is the founder. There is apparently an ebook instruction manual, which I have not read, but I’m going to, for reasons I’ll get into.

I was looking for something to help my grip because with some of the weightlifting exercises I have been doing, my ability to lift more weight is limited by my grip. When it gets to a certain point, I just can’t grip the bar anymore. I saw what I think was an identical product in the possession of someone I work with. I looked up his model, and I think it was about five times more expensive than this brand. The item is made in China, and my suspicion is that these are all made in the same factory in China, and just branded differently.

This is a four-piece set of gear. One of the items is just a piece of solid rubber shaped like a small donut. I have no idea what it is for, so I’ll need to consult the manual.

The second item is a type of hand-exerciser that I am familiar with, this one has an adjustible spring and I describe it as being like a caliper.

The third item is very difficult to describe, it has several individual springs between pieces of plastic. One side fits against your palm, and the other side has four buttons, one for each finger.

Finally there is basically a wide rubber band, with smaller rubber bands attached to its inside are several smaller bands that go around the hand-athlete’s fingers. Thusly he can stretch outward with the fingers against the tension of the larger band. I tried this and felt it activate the muscles in my forearm, which is good. Like with my grip, I have no exercises that isolate my forearms.

The set seems to be of good initial quality, though the multi-spring item seems like it might not last as long. But it also has the most moving parts. It costs $12.97 not including shipping on Amazon, and you can buy it and help the show by clicking here:
