It is a historic occasion as I achieve my personal best distance in recent years and meet a goal I set almost a year ago. In this completion of the two parts I discuss how things have changed in this year with regard to my personal philosophy.
Why am I here? In Episode 3 I set a goal to run two laps around Lake Fayetteville. That is not exactly the goal I am achieving today, which is walking the same distance. I have adjusted my goal because, for now, I am only walking as this is less risky to my overall health.
I am taking this opportunity to set the new goal for 2019. I have decided to set a goal not of distance or any other external physical measurement, but it does involve a measurement, which is needed for any goal. That measure is body fat. I want to get into the teens, less than 20% body fat, and ideally to 15%.
Philosophy Dept. – The most important aspect of this journey is my philosophy, or attitude, about life. What happend in the last year to change my philosophy? I decided to love my life. But I have also discovered, or come to an understanding of some of my gifts. This has been a long process but I have come much closer this year. My main gift, or charism, is knowlege, that is, learning things through study, and helping others to understand. I have always felt a real passion in podcasting, but I wondered is it the podcast, or something else working through that. I noticed that there are other means by which I share knowlege. One is writing (see http://DavisFalk.com for some examples of my writing outside of this blog). Another is teaching and speaking. I noticed that the most enjoyable aspect of my job is when I learn a knew technology and teach others about it. So teaching, writing, speaking, podcasting, all work together to support my primary gift, or charism, of knowlege.
The journey is not complete, but for now I know that this is what I am supposed to be doing and how I am supposed to be doing it.
As I complete this goal I want to thank those that made it possible, especially Tom, Patty, Amy, and most of all — YOU. This is not the end, but the beginning of the next stage of health improvement and development in the areas of fitness, diet, and medicine.
