Today I’m off to a sports nutrition store near where I live called Complete Nutrition. In talking with some fellow “losers” at work I found out they can provide a body composition report. The report give weight of fat, water, and muscle/skeletal tissue, BMI, body fat and muscle by percentage of total weight, and, weirdly, the weight of various body parts. Here is a photo of the machine, which also talks to the person it is weighing:
Josh was very helpful and walked me through the process. I had to take off my shoes and socks so I could be in direct contact with electrodes on the scale surface. I also grabbed two handles with the same type of sensors. After a couple of minutes, the report gets printed out. My results were not very suprising. I could use more muscle and still need to lose a lot of fat. And I need to be careful not to lose any more muscle mass because I am right at the suggested percentage.
Overall an informative experience. I will probably return to get a comparison maybe a month or so out. More information is always good, and helps us be more knowledgeable, and thus effective in achieving the best health possible.
